About Department

The Department of Zoology was established in 2010, and since then it has been home to a highly qualified, experienced, and motivated faculty. The department is committed to imparting quality education, promoting research aptitude, and inculcating a zeal for teaching among students in various areas of zoology, including Genetics, Aquaculture, Entomology, Environmental Biology, Ichthyology, Limnology, Nematology, Parasitology, Toxicology, and Wildlife.
The Zoology course provides a fundamental understanding of the animal world from molecular and primary levels and fosters the development of intellectual and creative skills among students. The department caters to academic excellence and provides courses such as a B.Sc with Zoology as one of the core subjects, along with opportunities for students to pursue higher education in various job-oriented streams. Choose Zoology as one of your subjects at the graduate level. You will be able to study other subsidiary fields such as Animal Biodiversity, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Comparative Anatomy of Vertebrates, Developmental Biology, Immunology, Physiology, and Applied Zoology (Aquaculture).
The laboratories are equipped with the latest equipment to meet the current needs of students in Zoology. Additionally, study tours are organized for students to collect fauna from different areas of Kashmir as part of their studies. The department has excelled in every initiative it has undertaken, providing positive, productive, skilled, and trained manpower to join the workforce, well-prepared in the areas of Zoology and its relevant fields.
